Less may be more everywhere else but #moreismore on the Witches Ride. Even when we can’t get together, we brew up ways to support women in our community. In 2020 we kept it socially distanced with a “Witches Ride in Spirit.”
There was no collective flight formation, but we still raised funds to support women on the First Coast in other ways: a “Hocus Pocus” Watch Along and the Witch Walk, both on Oct. 16. We synced up our streaming devices to watch “Hocus Pocus” together, with participating witches sharing the experience via social media. The Most Spirited Witch won a gift card to Bluewater Health & Wellness!
The Witch Walk was a scavenger hunt — open to Witches and Wizards on any method of transport. Participants made online contributions to the Betty Griffin Center — an organization which operates a 54-bed emergency shelter and six transitional apartments, and provides outreach services, training and education throughout St. Johns County, Florida — and then hit the road to solve the clues and make their way around Nocatee.
Stops included Cubed Homes, Burn Boot Camp, Coastal Wine Market, Bluewater Health & Wellness, LuluLemon and Treylor Park. Magical folk who finished the Witch Walk were entered to win a prize basket filled with goodies — including a $100 gift card to Bluewater Health & Wellness.
In the end, WRC raised $150 for Betty Griffin Center. Sister Witch Amy and her social group Witchy Shades of Fun also raised $900 during their witchy golf cart parade for the charity, bringing the total to $1,050! It’s amazing what a small group of witches can do when we #flytogether #butnottooclosetogether.
